Personal Experience
David completed his undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Political Theory at the University of British Columbia in 2009. He was subsequently accepted to the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC and graduated with a degree of Juris Doctor in 2014. While at Law School, David was active with the Law Student’s Legal Assistance Program and Pro Bono Students Canada. Through his participation with these programs, he was able to gain experience assisting clients in many areas, including at trial before the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
Following law school, David pursued his interest in criminal law by securing articles with Walter Fox and Associates, a long-standing criminal defence firm in downtown Toronto. Under the supervision of Walter Fox, David gained insight into in all aspects of representing clients before the courts.
Since his call to the Bar in 2015, David has had the benefit of working closely with two experienced criminal defence lawyers who are now sitting Justices at the Ontario Court of Justice. In the course of his employment with now Justice Alison Mackay and Justice Jaqueline Freeman, David acquired valuable experience conducting bail hearings, Charter applications and trials at both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice.
David has represented clients successfully on a wide range of charges including domestic assault, sexual assault, impaired driving and importing cocaine. He represents clients most often at the Brampton courthouse but appears regularly throughout southern Ontario, including Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener, Milton, Orangeville and Barrie.
David is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Peel Law Association. He is also a member of the Toronto Lawyers’ Association and a sitting member of the TLA Education Committee.
